Patsi Krakoff Blog Boost

I am a member of the LinkedInBloggers yahoo group located at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LinkedinBloggers/ and each week we are focusing on promoting a random member's blog.

The LinkedInBloggers Yahoo! Group is a place for LinkedIn members that run blogs to hang out and share information concerning blogs and blogging.

Basically what should happen is that the blog of the week will see a surge of traffic as a result of all the extra press they're getting as a result of being "boosted".

Interestingly, this blog was the Second blog to be boosted and I never got around to doing a post about it. I want to thank Dennis D. McDonald, Dave Taylor, Des Walsh and Robyn Tippins, the moderators of the group for such a fine concept and all the hard work that they put into it. I'd also like to thank all the other bloggers that participated in the blog boost, they're the reason I got so many visits.

My Blog Boost experience was a blast, I had traffic coming from all parts of the world on account of the alredy established Bloggers that linked to my blog. I am indeed grateful.

Enough about that though, this week's blog is The CoachEzines Blog, authored by Patsi Krakoff, that's Dr. Patsi to you (just kidding). She's a a coach & psychologist with a specialty in writing articles, newsletters, blogs and ezines for professional coaches and consultants.

The target audience for her blog consists of coaches, consultants, authors, speakers, and other professionals who need a newsletter or ezine to stay in touch with clients. It has somewhat expanded to include other topics such as blogs, and writing web copy.

Are you a Carrot, an Egg or a Coffee Bean

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see." Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied. Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean?" Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity, boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

Think of this:
Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor.

If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Solar Eclipse, what a beauty

Today, for the first time in my life, I witnessed a Solar Eclipse. Boy was it awesaome. My only regret is that I don't own a DigiCam and as a result couldn't take any pictures. It was totally awe inspiring and an opportunity for the family to bond.

You should've been there, some of the neighbours ran out of their bathrooms with just towels on to catch a glimpse of the eclipse as it had been announced previously. All the dogs were barking like crazy.

Here in Lagos, the eclipse was not exactly total as we could still see clearly, it was just a li'l dark but in other parts of the country, Abeokuta for example, it was total, everywhere was pitch black.

I hope I see one of these again before my time on this earth is done. Now I need to book an appointment for a Lunar Eclipse, that ought to be very cool.

Job Title: Business Development Officer

Job Description:
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for selling and promoting the company products. He/She will be required to develop new business relationships by identifying prospective clients in the banking and finance industry based on information from inside sales, newspapers, business directories and trade shows.

Tasks:
The BDO will be required to gain in-depth knowledge of assigned products and will work independently to learn product features and benefits. He/She will also be responsible for demonstrating products to prospective clients. Lagos City Police Humour

Howdy people,

It sure has been a while since my last post, only 1 week but it feels more like a month. I’ve been so swamped with work and emails I just didn’t have the time to put up a post. Anyway here’s a li’l joke to keep you going.

A pastor was driving on Lagos-Ibadan express road when he met a team of policemen who, quite naturally, wanted ’something’ from him. Since he was not prepared to
play their games, they asked for his papers and having combed through everything without any offence with which to nail the ’stubborn’ pastor, they now
asked him to open the bonnet of his car.

A careful scrutiny of the engine number against what was on paper revealed that letter U was written in such a way that it could be mistaken for letter V. That was all the officer-in-charge needed to shout “stolen vehicle”! Sensing trouble, even when he knew he committed no offense, the pastor called the OC to say he was a priest, to which the officer replied: “Please, leave that pastor thing…in any case, if you are indeed a pastor, then you must have a Bible in your car, bring it.”

The Pastor did as was commanded after which the officer now ordered: “Please read Matthew 5:25, 26 to me”. The incredulous Pastor opened to the recommended passage and read:

Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to a judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. I tell you the truth; you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

The man of God quietly made an “offering” of “just” one N100 to his newly found “preacher”.
